Kährs has shown that it is possible to recycle PVC-free floors and reuse the material by using installation waste from its flooring products Zero Sheet, Zero & Green and Xpression. Since 2010, Kährs has recycled production waste from its PVC-free resilient floors, and last year the program was expanded to include recirculation of installation waste. Kährs insights to the interior & flooring trends 2024

Another milestone has been reached in Kährs climate work as the company has now submitted its carbon dioxide emission reductions target to SBTi for validation. The target is proposed for Kährs’ near-term company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the SBTi including FLAG removals and emissions (Forest, Land & Agriculture).

Kährs Group has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 63% compared with the base year 2020 – the climate goal for 2025 and the required reduction according to the roadmap of science-based target initiative, already achieved well and beyond.

Kährs proudly announces that its recently introduced Aware flooring has been awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Aware, which is a new type of flooring for use in both residential and commercial spaces, has a truly authentic wood appearance, is based on natural and recycled materials, and, has a durability that can be compared to that of traditional vinyl floors.

With the Beyond Retro collection, we wanted as a true design-oriented company, to create a high design collection celebrating the combination of classical and modern elements while incorporating a sense of authenticity, warmth, and modernity. The retro design style is not tied to a fixed principle, allowing us to freely create and combine.

Kährs Flex Silent can be used for several different types of top coverings, and it has the added benefit of being able to be reused several times when the flooring itself is changed – without losing any of its performance and quality. This not only saves the customer the cost of buying and replacing the underlay when installing a new floor, but it also reduces the carbon footprint of Kährs Flex Silent over its life cycle. Products with a long service life are always more sustainable than those that are only in use for a short period of time

How does the floor affect us humans and what happens in the brain in different built environments? How can room design promote healing, learning and creativity? Kährs is starting a five-year research collaboration in this interdisciplinary field called Neurodesign, where Isabelle Sjövall, as the first in the world, will complete her doctorate over the next five years.

modulyss, which manufactures the carpet tiles that are part of the Kährs portfolio in the Nordic region, has been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified™, level Gold, on a total of 28 products. It is a long-term and purposeful sustainability work that has now been recognized through this certification - which assesses the products' impact on people and planet, throughout their entire life cycle.

Kährs introduces a new premium Luxury Tiles design collection at the retail trade fair, Euroshop, in Düsseldorf. The new Impression collection is innovatively designed to boost lifelike wood and stone appearances to a new level. Kährs also exhibits three different retail interior concepts showcasing how combinations of Kährs high quality flooring products can create purposeful and inspiring shop interiors.

Kährs has been a front runner in receiving flooring certifications by third party organisations. One of the most respected labels is the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the official ecolabel of the Nordics. Kährs was one of the first wood flooring manufacturers to get products certified in accordance with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and today more than 180 Kährs wood floors are labelled.

Kährs and modulyss will together showcase the latest product offerings in various materials via three unique concepts of colour trends, all examples of how various materials can be combined to create unique flooring solutions and surroundings that perform to the highest standard of quality.

Kährs will supply sustainable cosmetics retailer Lush with hardwood flooring for Lush stores, offices, spas and studios in the United Kingdom. The collaboration is a result of Kährs matching the strict environmental criteria set by Lush for its suppliers.

Now, it’s been scientifically proven that wood has a positive impact on us. The European research project Wood2New, which ran for three years and was finalised in February 2017, shows that using wood as a construction material benefits both the environment and our health.

A look and feel of untreated, newly sawn timber characterises Kährs two new collections – Lux and Lumen. The effect is achieved by treating the surface of these floors with an innovative, ultra-matt lacquer.
