Since the very beginning and through all our actions, we’ve always been committed to quality, sustainability and durability. This ranges from our choice of the best raw materials for wood flooring from our 3,000 timber suppliers and the various surface treatments we use, to our vinyl floors and overall production. For both our parquet and vinyl flooring, Kährs fulfils all requirements for modern flooring aesthetics as well as
environmental and quality standards.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is one of the most comprehensive and rigorous product certifications in the world. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel criteria set requirements for, for example, the content and use of environmentally hazardous chemicals, emissions to air, water and land, energy and resource use and waste management. The label also places demands on good quality and function. Kährs is today proud to have over 200 Nordic Swan Ecolabelled floors.

FSC® - Forest Stewardship Council® is an international membership organization that promotes the responsible management of the world's forests. Kährs has been certified since 2005 and holds license FSC® 019122.
PEFC - Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes - is the world's largest organization for forest certification. Kährs is certified since 2013.

Kährs general wood sourcing policy
An EPD describes building materials, construction products, or building components in terms of their environmental impact, as well as on their functional and technical characteristics. With an EPD, manufacturers can report comparable, objective and third-party verified data that show every aspect of the environmental performance of a product over its total lifetime. This information can be used by property developers and planners to calculate a building’s total environmental and climate impact over its lifecycle.

FloorScore® is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments in the U.S. It qualifies for many green building schemes including LEED v4 and BREEAM – an environmental standard that rates the sustainability of buildings in the UK.
Kährs products are FloorScore® certified, which benefits LEED building projects. Our hardwood floors can contribute with several points in LEED 2009 and LEED V4 projects. Many of Kährs oak floors can also be produced as FSC Mix or PEFC, which means that they can contribute with points to LEED and/or BREEAM projects. Contact us for more information.

LEED Points Contribution
All the vinyl floors in our Luxury Tiles series are M1 certified. The M1 badge signifies that a product’s construction materials fulfil the strictest standards for indoor air quality.
A French certification that tests and guarantees that products which are installed indoors, including floors, must meet emissions requirements for a safe indoor environment. All our vinyl floors fulfil requirements for French A+.
